The Imperative of Virtue

“I am having a thought here, Barbarossa!” Famous words from the Pirates of the Caribbean. Me? Thoughts? Scary, dangerous, but yes! So, what have I been thinking about? I am glad you asked. I have been wondering of late why it seems a convergence of evil forces have raised their head so quickly, openly and forcefully in our society. I have been wondering what, if anything, all these groups have in common? Is there any one thing which is could explain our situation today, something that could also be used to destroy these forces. What does Socialism, Marxism, Communism, Welfarism, Statism, Islam and Issue-ism have in common? Anything? I believe there is and the founders had the answer. The answer is virtue!

I have come to the conclusion that the real national battle is not against Marxism, Communism, Welfarism, Statism, Islam or even Issue-ism per se. What is issue-ism you might ask? Issue-ism is the belief that if we simply change this or that law and incorporate this or that law then we will be able to restore America to the Constitutional Republic she ought to be. For example, it seems to me that many believe that if we just defeat Obama-care we will have restored our nation. I have personally been told by some that this is the only issue we ought to focus on. The U.N., Agenda 21 and the Fed are other issues which, if destroyed, many seem to be believe is the panacea to restore America. Each issue is very important and yet, the demise of each will not necessarily restore the Republic because they are symptoms. Issue-ism is focusing on the symptoms rather than on the cause of the problem, a symptom, and merely removing a symptom will not restore our America. We must focus on the cause(s).

The real national battle is about virtue because it is the lack of virtue which also explains why each of these evils have become so popular. Don’t get me wrong! I do believe we need to know the basics of each of these evils in order to combat them and educate the populace. Let me use Islam as an example. I believe understanding the real nature of Islam is rather easy. Here is what a person needs to know about Islam:

1) Taqiyya
2) Abrogation
3) Qur’ anic chronology
4) The example of Muhammad
5) The place of the 9 Surah in the Qur’ an
6) The proper structure of the verses within the Surah (Chapter). The first section of this chapter is verses 37 through 72. The second section is 73 through 124. The last section of the chapter is actually verses 1 through 37. Read these verses. These verses abrogate everything else in the Qur’ an.
7) The purpose of mosques.

The above information will provide any open minded person enough insight into Islam to understand that the very last words Alllah supposedly spoke to Mohammad was to kill Jews and Christians because they do not believe in Islamic monotheism. Simple. Direct. To the point. Now, there are many people who have devoted their lives to this issue and I thankful to and for them. We need to keep abreast of the information they provide and be ready to be activists when called upon to stop this invading horde. Nevertheless, let us say that we defeat the Islamic menace. Will that restore our Constitutional Republic? For that matter, will destroying Communism, Marxism, Welfarism or Statism in addition to Islam restore our Constitutional Republic?

The answer is no! The cause of the symptom will still exist even if it is merely lying dormant, just waiting for the right time to reassert itself. The only way to destroy these evils is to snuff out the oxygen which gives to them life as oxygen does a fire. The oxygen which gives life to either these evils or our Constitutional Republic is a theological issue. This is a spiritual conflict! The founders made this very clear. The Constitution and the Declaration are inseparably linked.

The Declaration is the declaration of our new sovereignty and the Constitution is the structure of this new sovereignty.

The Declaration is the Charter and the Constitution is the by-laws!

The committee who designed the Declaration designed within the Charter that America, therefore, the Constitution, is founded upon a particular form of epistemology. So many people have wasted hundreds of gallons of ink as well as millions of man-hours proving that the Founders’ epistemology is Deistic and secular. It can’t be done! Why?

The phrase “laws of nature and nature’s God” historically stretches back hundreds of years from Jefferson’s pen to the writings of Locke, Blackstone, Coke, Aquinas and the Apostle Paul. The phrase “laws of nature” refers to the natural law (Law of the heart) which God placed into mankind. The “laws of…nature’s God” refers to the Scripture. The two are different sides of the same coin. These two phrases cannot be traced back to the Romans or the Greeks! The Declaration committee made sure that the Bible would legally be a part of the American system. This explains the the Secularist’s unyielding, undying, inexhaustible obsession to rewrite history, invent meanings that did not at the time exist and put words, ideas and thoughts into the Founders’ mouths impossible for them to have at the time.

The term “self-evident” is a term which believers have used since about the Eight Century and became prominent around the Twelveth century in theological discussions. In actually, the term is found in Romans 2 of the Bible. Self-evident refers to knowledge (first principles) which are self-evidently known because God has placed this information in our hearts to guide us. Natural Law. The term is never used by the Greeks, Romans, Epicureans or Stoics. The term for law the Stoics used when they did mention this phrase was not the term they used normally for self-evident.

The Declaration mentions Creator and Supreme Judge throughout. I had an individual who responded to a post I made on my website claim that actually, the term God could refer to any deity. What a fool! He either has never read the beliefs of those who made up the Declaration committee or read them and dismissed them. What Creator could Jefferson even think of at the time? What God did Adams believe in? Or Franklin? Fools. The Declaration’s Creator is the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob who is the Father of our Lord Jesus! The Greeks and Romans did not have a deity who actually created for the pagan world from Jefferson past the Romans back to the Classical Greeks believed in a childish form of evolution. The founders did not!

Why is this history lesson important. Because history is repeating itself. Our government is now, by definition, tyrannical. Read the Declaration. It is not possible to explain this transformation by merely discussing the rise of Communism, Marxism, Welfarism, Islam or Statism because these do represent the reasons why we are where we are but the evolutions of the journey. According to the founders there is the only reason which explains the journey: the lack of virtue.

George Washington stated, ” “The aggregate happiness of the society, which is best promoted by the practice of a virtuous policy, is, or ought to be, the end of all government . . . .”

From where is this virtue to come? Madison stated, “To suppose that any form of government will secure liberty or happiness without any virtue in the people, is a chimerical idea.”

The question which now rises is, what is the source of this virtue the people ought to possess? Charles Carroll stated, “Without morals a republic cannot subsist any length of time; they therefore who are decrying the Christian religion, whose morality is so sublime & pure, [and] which denounces against the wicked eternal misery, and [which] insured to the good eternal happiness, are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of free governments.”

John Adams wrote, “”We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.“

Why virtue? The Declaration and Constitution are merely pieces of paper containing ideals but with no power to enforce obedience. A virtuous person abides by the laws of the land and the laws of our land are the Declaration and Constitution. Virtue demands we uphold (1) the moral foundation of our Republic, (2) the Declaration and (3) Constitution.

The virtues which the founding fathers based our Constitutional Republic upon were those of the Bible and the Bible alone! The first and second greatest commandments, the Golden rule and Jesus’ moral code presented in Scripture constitute this virtuous system. This system is what allows for the diverse ideas to co-exist and yet, virtue demands that these ideas be fought against and destroyed. Marxism, Communism, Welfarism, Statism and Islam are theological ideals diametrically opposed to the Bible. Since the Bible is the basis of our society then, Marxism, Communism, Welfarism, Statism and Islam are diametrically opposed to our Constitutional Republic.

Therefore, here is my thought! No matter what issue we might personal have chosen to fight we must realize that virtue is the key to this battle. We must begin to call upon our society to (1) return to God, (2) return to a virtuous life based on the Bible, (3) study the true history of the Declaration and Constitution, (4) vote for virtuous statesmen and (5) fight for the American way of life!

This is a spiritual battle! Such a battle needs spiritual weapons! The most important spiritual weapon we have is virtue.

For God, liberty and the Republic!
